The milky glacial till of the Quiroz River cuts off the clear, filtered waters of the Pablo River. We hope to cross the Quiroz on our next trip here!

We left Cochrane on November 15th for what would be our final big excursion of our semester in Chile. We spent our time researching the biodiversity of a very isolated area on the shores of Lago O’Higgins in the Aysén region, completing our full protocol for recording plant communities, avifauna, topography, and of course the presence/density of Huemul deer.

With our deepest gratitude for the help of the Andean Company of the Chilean Military, Juan Carlos Alvarez from CONAF, and Misael Tiznado (a local guide), and our instructors, we had a successful and memorable trip.

I decided to make a video for my contribution to the Round River blog. It is meant to convey our purpose and the research that we did as well as share the incredible experience that we had while there. Enjoy!
